Maple & Oak is not only a furniture store, we are an art gallery as well! As a local business, we wanted to support the local art community. We are thrilled to introduce you to the artists whose works are on display in our store. Glinda Schafer
PSA, DPS, IAPS-MC, NOAA
Glinda Schafer is a New Orleans pastel artist who has won many awards, locally, nationally and internationally. She has had four solo museum exhibitions and participated in numerous invitational and group exhibitions. Although having started her art career in oils, she fell in love with pastels and they have been her primary medium since. Her landscape paintings evoke a sense of peace and tranquility. Water has always been a major source of inspiration, so the marshes and beaches of the coastlines are a constant theme in her work.
Glinda has been an active board member and signature member of the Degas Pastel Society since 1986 and is the current President. She is also a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the New Orleans Art Association and in the Master Circle of the International Association of Pastel Societies.
